The Sycamore Valley Golf Course is currently being considered for a Zoning Change from E-1, and Employment District, to R-3 in order to support this development:

We feel strongly that this development is an inappropriate use for this treasure of open, green space in the Cuyahoga Valley, and that the request for rezoning to R-3 should be denied.
This is a complex issue with many different issues to be carefully considered.
However, we feel strongly that just the sight of this development plan is enough to tell anyone that the rural nature of Ward 8, the old Northampton, would not be retained should a Zoning Change be made that allows these plans to go forward.
We urge you to contact the members of Cuyahoga Falls City Council to let them know your views on this proposed Zoning Change.

There’s good news and bad news.
The good news is that members of Cuyahoga Falls City Council and the City Administration are becoming aware of the need for a broad, community-based planning process for the Cuyahoga Valley.
So that’s good.
The bad news is, the City seems determined to change zoning to allow the Ryan Homes development of 145+ townhouse units on Sycamore Valley Golf Course.
City Council and the Administration seem willing to dismiss every individual argument we residents make.
The one argument that gets their attention is:
We live here, we pay taxes, we vote, and we don’t want this kind of development in the Valley.
At the last City Council Meeting, they doubled the size of the room and we still filled it, with standing room only. And the Planning and Zoning Committee voted against bringing the golf course project to a vote of the full City Council.
At this coming Monday’s City Council Meeting, the Planning and Zoning Committee will vote again on bringing the golf course project to a vote of the full City Council.
Sounds crazy, doesn’t it?
We need to fill the room again with residents this coming Monday - both from Cuyahoga Falls as well as the surrounding communities - to let them know that we oppose this kind of development in the Valley and that we are growing, we are not going away.
Our showing at this next Cuyahoga Falls City Council meeting is the most important step we can take for the larger issue of stopping inappropriate development throughout the Valley and the old Northampton.
Take a nap beforehand, bring snacks and a water bottle, and be prepared to wait them out if they try again to stretch the meeting out so that we get tired and go home.
Your presence is the best argument we can make!
